Is the glass half full or half empty? That is the question being pondered with two wars being fought amid extreme weather and an uncertain economic outlook. This session will explore how crop markets are responding to these influences and contemplate how they will respond to emerging issues.
Betty Resnick has served as an economist at the American Farm Bureau Federation since 2023. Her issue portfolio includes row crop markets, farm policy programs, and sustainability. Prior to joining AFBF, Betty worked for Bryant Christie Inc. in Sacramento, California, as a research analyst focusing on global food regulatory and market access issues.
She is originally from Lenexa, Kansas, and is a graduate of Mississippi State University, claiming both Kansas and Mississippi as home. At MSU, she served as Student Body Treasurer and earned bachelor’s and a master’s degrees in agricultural economics. Her master’s thesis was recognized as one of the three most outstanding master’s theses of 2021 by the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA).
Betty currently resides in Washington, DC and is a proud military spouse.
Samantha Ayoub is an Associate Economist covering environment/sustainability, labor markets and tax policy for American Farm Bureau Federation. Samantha is originally from northeast Georgia where she was an active 4-H and FFA member. After graduating from the University of Georgia with a BSA in Agricultural and Applied Economics, she worked for USDA NRCS in Lincoln, Nebraska. She received her Master of Science in Agricultural and Resources Economics from Colorado State University with a two-part thesis entitled “Exploring Heterogeneous Motives Behind Animal Welfare Management: A Focus on Fed Cattle”.
