This session will cover the massive tax fight that is set to take place in Congress in 2025 that will impact every farmer and rancher in the country. Details covered will include the country’s fiscal situation and how that may impact the tax policy choices that are ultimately made.

Paul Neiffer

Paul Neiffer, CPA provides income and estate tax planning services and FSA planning related to farmers and their families. Paul is past president of the Farm Financial Standards Council and current chairperson of the AICPA Ag Conference. He writes the “FarmCPA” column for Top Producer magazine along with their Top Producer Podcast and is also the primary author of the “FarmCPAReport.com” blog. Paul is a nationally recognized speaker on many subjects related to farmers and processors including (1) tax planning, (2) estate tax and succession planning, (3) farm management accounting, (4) farm bill, (5) farm economics and many other related topics.

Erica York

Erica York is Senior Economist and Research Director with Tax Foundation’s Center for Federal Tax Policy. She previously worked as an auditor at a large community bank in Kansas and interned at Tax Foundation’s Center for State Tax Policy.

Her analysis has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Politico, and other national and international media outlets. She holds a master’s degree in Economics from Wichita State University and an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Economics from Sterling (KS) College, where she is currently an adjunct professor. Erica lives in Kansas with her husband and their two children.

Dustin Sherer

Born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado, Dustin received his BA in Political Science from the University of Rochester in upstate New York. Dustin served the last 10 years as a staffer in both the House and Senate, and came to AFBF in 2021 from Senator Cory Gardner’s (R-CO) office where he served as a legislative advisor specializing in agriculture, energy, environment, natural resource, water and tax issues. In the House, he served as Legislative Assistant and Legislative Director for Congressman Scott Tipton (R-CO), and as Executive Director of the Small Business Caucus.
